Four Seasons Hotel Sydney

The Situation

The contractor contacted our engineering department to determine if we could assist them with raising a concrete pool with a combined weight in excess of 100 tonne located on the 20th floor of the four seasons hotel in order for them to treat the concrete cancer on the underside on the pool.

The Solution

The Shore Hire engineering department designed a structural steel bracket  mechanically anchored to the concrete wall of the pool to replicate the existing damaged spring support system. The challenge for the team of riggers was that we needed to lift the entire pool at 13 separate lifting points in synchronisation to maintain the integrity of the pool.

The Result

By raising the entire pool and temporarily supporting it, our client was able to access the underside of the pool structure to carry out the repair works with no disturbance to the hotel beneath. The successful process of raising the pool negated the need for major re-construction works on the 20th floor.
