The Situation

The utilities contractor was required to replace the 170 meters asbestos conduits within the train platform whilst maintaining the integrity of the platform wall once it was separated from the platform due to the excavation within a 24 hour period.

The Solution

Shore Hire provided an engineered solution comprising of Shore 400 and Shore 100 raking props with strong backs at intervals of 1 meter along the 170 meter platform. The railway line was only shutdown for a 24 hour period, so all works had to fit within this time frame.

The Result

By installing the Shore Hire strong back and raking prop system the integrity of the platform was maintained whilst the contractor carried out their excavation works all with the tight time frame allowed by Sydney Trains
